Indulge in our Hangi feast in our on-site Matariki Cultural Centre.

Experience the Maori culture with the Matariki Hangi and concert show. The Hangi food is cooked in a Hangi pit over river rocks and steamed to perfection. The buffet consists of a soup, vegetables, meat dishes, fish dishes, salads, and sumptuous desserts.
The buffet meal is followed by the Maori Cultural Performance where you can learn more about the Maori culture in an interactive show. You can even try the poi dance or learn the haka.

Maori Greetings
Maori people take meetings and greetings seriously. Visitors and honoured guests will often be welcomed in a formal ceremony known as a Powhiri. Some Basic phrases:

Hello (informal) - Kia ora
Welcome - Haere mai
Good Bye (to the person staying) - E noho ra
Good Bye (to the person going) - Haere ra
Please - Koa
Thank you - Kia ora
Yes - Ae
